Ann 'Handlebar' Hanslip was a student at Feldon and Charters. The story briefly told is that one day Ann was walking a street in London when she was 'spotted', invited to a screen-test and immediately signed as a Rank starlet (Yes, it happens, even now!). Paul recalls that his mother often laughingly quoted that the contract was worth £35,000. She appeared in a number of films, notably, The Story of Gilbert and Sullivan in 1953. She married and had children - career over!
