'Grandy' was a close friend of both Marjorie and Noreen Bush. She had her own School, Grandison College, in Croydon. Local area development forced its closure in the early 1970's when she decided to retire from full-time involvement in dance. She maintained a close involvement with ISTD and became companion to Noreen whenever she wanted to visit the ballet in London for a night-out. Charters directly benefitted from the demise of Grandy's school when Eric Palmer transferred to teach singing; also the wonderful Cherry Lloyd, her piano accompaniment a joy to all dance teachers and students .
